Filevine

Requirements

The user connecting to Filevine must be a Filevine Account Admin in order to generate the Personal Access Token (PAT) that is required for this connection.

Connecting Filevine

Sign in to the CallConnector.ai dashboard, and then to the App Authorization tab. Click on Filevine in the list of apps.

In the pop-up, you will be prompted to enter a Personal Access Token (PAT) and an Org ID.

It’s best practice to assign a service account to the PAT.

Creating a Service Account

In Filevine, in the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on "Advanced". Then, select "Service Accounts". Select your organization, and click "New".

Obtaining your Org ID

Click your profile picture/icon in the top right of the screen, and select "Filevine Settings", then select "Orgs" on the left. If you are an Org Admin or an Account Admin, you should see the org ID on this page.

Creating a Personal Access Token (PAT)

Note that your access token is not valid indefinitely. See the next section for extending the expiration date of your access token.
Click your profile picture/icon in the top right of the screen, and select "Manage My Account", then select "Access Tokens" on the left.

Click on "New" to create a new token. Give your token a name, and assign the service account as the user. Select the "Filevine API Access scope" and then click "Create".

You will only be able to view your token once. Copy it, and paste it into the pop-up in Connect.

Click on "Continue". You will briefly see a spinner, and then a success message on successful connection.

PAT Expiration

By default, your Filevine PAT will expire after three months. You can see the expiration date of your access tokens on the Access Tokens page.

Fortunately, extending the expiration of your token is easy and takes less than a minute.

Navigate to the Access Tokens page by clicking your user icon in the navigation bar and clicking "Manage My Account". From the sidebar in the next page, click on "Access Tokens".

How Events Are Logged

Note that, at a minimum, a Contact and a Project are absolutely required to log anything into Filevine. This is because every record must be associated with a Project, and each Project must be associated with a Contact.

In Filevine, a Project is the equivalent of a Matter.

If the user disables Contact Creation, we will not be able to log any event if we do not find a contact.

Which Project will events be logged to?

Because all Notes in Filevine absolutely require a Project to be created, CallConnector.ai will automatically log all events as Notes on the most recently updated Project for the contact associated with the event.

Call

Calls are logged as Notes in the Phone Call category.

SMS are logged as generic Notes.

Faxes are logged as Documents.
