ion8-CALL Activity Code

Call and SMS events are tagged with an activity code labelled ion8-CALL, indicating that they were created by Call Connector. This activity code can be configured in your firm settings:

Note that Call Connector will create this activity code automatically. You do not need to do anything on your end unless you want to change the code’s configuration. If you want to adjust the code settings, you must leave the code’s label as ion8-CALL.

How Events Are Logged

Call - Single Matter Found

Calls are logged as Fees, if a single matter is found associated with the matched contact.

Note that the “billable status” of the created Fee will match the user’s configuration of the Default Billable Status service option. This can be configured in the Options tab in ion8 Connect.

Call - No or Multiple Matters Found

This is the case if multiple matters are found, or no matters are found.

A contact will still be created if no contact was found (and if Contact Creation is enabled), but a matter will not be created.

In this case, the call will be logged as a Task.

If a user match is found, the Task will be assigned to that user. Otherwise, Call Connector will assign the Task to a default user, who will be the first user in an alphabetically-sorted list of all users in the firm. The user field is required for Task records, so Call Connector absolutely must have a user to log a call as a Task.

SMS - Single Matter Found

SMS events are logged as Memos if a single matter is found.

SMS - No or Multiple Matters Found

This is the case if multiple matters are found, or no matters are found.

A contact will still be created if no contact was found (and if Contact Creation is enabled), but a matter will not be created.

In this case, the SMS will be logged as a Task.

If a user match is found, the Task will be assigned to that user. Otherwise, Call Connector will assign the Task to a default user, who will be the first user in an alphabetically-sorted list of all users in the firm. Fax

Faxes are logged as Documents. Note that a contact and single matter must be found in order to log the fax.
