Call Connector | Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales Integration

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales

Info
This integration is available to users assigned to an Enterprise license.

Requirements

  1. You must have a Microsoft Dynamics 365 license, and access to the Sales app.
  2. You must have an environment set up within your Microsoft tenant which includes the Sales app.
  3. The Dataverse Search feature must be enabled in this environment.
This feature allows Call Connector to easily and accurately search for contacts using a phone number or email address.

To begin, navigate to the Power Platform Admin Center. In the left sidebar, select Manage, and then Environments.
The side navigation in the Microsoft Power Platform Admin Center.
In the list of environments shown on this page, select the environment that you will connect to Call Connector. In the top navigation bar, select Settings.

Expand the Product section, and click on Features.

Ensure that Dataverse search is toggled on.

Save your changes.
Info
It may take some time for Microsoft to provision this feature; this process happens on Microsoft’s servers. Until it is complete, Call Connector may not work as expected.

Enabling Timeline for Faxes

This step is not required for Call Connector to function, but it makes the fax logging feature significantly more appealing and usable.

If this step is not performed, fax files will not be displayed in the UI of the Fax record. So, while the file will be uploaded to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales, it simply will not be visible to you.

See below for an example of the difference between enabling the timeline and not enabling it.

Notice that there is a Note on the right side, with the fax file included as an attachment.

To configure the timeline for Fax records, follow the instructions below, and reference the official Microsoft documentation on the subject.

Connecting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales to Call Connector

Like all Call Connector integrations, this is done via ion8 Connect.

Navigate to your Call Connector dashboard, and then to the App Authorization tab. In the list of available integrations, click on "Microsoft Dynamics".

A pop-up will appear, prompting you to input your Environment URL. You can click to expand the instructions to see how to find it. This is your organization’s unique Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales environment URL. You can find it simply by copying the base URL in your Sales app. It starts with https:// and ends with .com.

You can also find it in the Power Platform Admin Center by navigating to Manage → Environments, selecting your environment, and copying the Environment URL value.
The Environment configuration page in the Microsoft Power Platform Admin Center.
Once you have your environment URL, paste it into the field in the pop-up.

After entering the URL, click "Continue". You will then be prompted to sign into your Microsoft account and authorize the app connection.

Once this is done, you’ll see a brief spinner as we attempt to authenticate your app connection, and then a success message on successful authentication.
